Lab quality photograph prints were once thought to be beyond the technology of the home printer. Experts thought consumer printers would get close to high quality photograph prints but would never equal the brightness and detail of photos that came from a professional processing center.

However, technology advanced so quickly in the past decade that a number of top brand name printers have come along to dispel the myth that home based printers could never match the high quality of lab processed photos.
