Night Shots Photography

night shots photography
I am new to photography and curious to know can you do stop and show motion doing Night Photography?

I have an assignment to and would like to do night shots. However I know you can show motion with night photography is it possible to stop. What ISO would I have to use??? I know the higher the ISO the more noise. help please. really new to this aspect of photography.

not sure i fully understand you – its me not you

i always use 100iso for night shots, use an apperture of say F11 and a shutter of say 6-8 seconds,

then have the person walk thru the frame, to freeze them fire a flash at them while making the exposure, you can also use a torch to paint them into the image as well

i hope i have understood you, this is with people, your after this sort of thing?: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hellas2008/4078541051/

Canon SX40 ISO limits time-lapse night shots.

Night Photography

Night photographers have one big thing in common: a true love of the dark. Rather than looking at night photography as an extension of daytime shooting with added complications, they embrace the unique challenges of nocturnal photography for the tremendous wealth of creative opportunities it offers. That’s just what this book does. But if the idea of setting out into the deep, dark night with just your camera (and maybe a cup of coffee) gets your creative juices flowing, dive right in. Lance Keimig, one of the premier experts on night photography, has put together a comprehensive reference that will show you ways to capture images you never thought possible. If you have some experience with photography and have always wanted to try shooting at night, you’ll learn the basics for film or digital shooting. If you’re already a seasoned pro, you’ll learn to use sophisticated techniques such as light painting and drawing, stacking images to create long star trails, and more. A chapter on the history of night photography describes the materials and processes that made night photography possible, and introduces the photographers who have defined night photography as an artistic medium. A chapter on how to use popular software packages such as Lightroom and Photoshop specifically with night time shots shows you how to make the final adjustments to your nocturnal creations. In this book you’ll find history, theory, and lots of practical instruction on technique, all illustrated with clear, concise examples, diagrams and charts that reinforce the text, and inspiring color and black and white images from the author and other luminaries in the field, including Scott Martin, Dan Burkholder, Tom Paiva, Troy Paiva, Christian Waeber, Jens Warnecke and Cenci Goepel, with Foreword by Steve Harper. *Includes the most complete information available for learning the art of light painting *Covers both film and digital shooting *Stunning color and black and white images from some of the world’s most well-known night photographers provide creative examples of the techniques discussed within the chapters

Head Shots

Head Shots

$7.99

Nature Photographer, McKenzie MacKenna, has never led a photo tour riddled with as many frustrations as the ones she’s encountered this season in Crested Butte, Colorado. While the wildflowers number in the millions and the Rockies are as gorgeous as ever, the Lodge has given away her reserved Conference Room as well as the Restaurant she’d counted on to the nasty and sneaky Darryl Duke, owner of Royal Photography Tours. And Duke has sunk to even lower depths by hiring tall, dark and handsome Jake Grayson as his Guest Lecturer. Because, while he peaked her interest in the past, McKenzie has nothing but contempt for Jake in the present–if only she could convince her body of that fact. If possible, things get worse when Duke starts showing up at McKenzie’s special and what she thought were secret photo locations, his 100 tour members literally running over her seven. Jake makes advances, leaving McKenzie confused about whether she wants to make advances back, not to mention confused about whether she really knows what she thought she knew about him. However, as bad as it’s been, the situation becomes deadly when a serial killer, the Headless Horseman, puts McKenzie and her group in his sights–and suddenly a frustrating photo tour changes instead to one of terror and a fight for survival.

OLYMPUS 9-18MM F/4.05.6 E-ED LENS W/ACC

$601

100% Digital-Specific Lens for Sharpness and Rich Colors… The 9-18mm lens is part of Olympus’ expanding line of 100 percent digital lenses designed specifically for digital photography. Unlike other camera companies, Olympus does not rely on old film lenses, which often result in images with softedges or other imperfections. Olympus has applied its optical expertise to develop the Zuiko Digital 18-36mm equivalent (ED 9-18mm Four Thirds) f4.0-f5.6, a super-wide-angle zoom lens covering a wide focal length range. This compact ultra-wide-angle zoom lens can be used on any of the Olympus E-System digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera bodies, and measures only 3 inches long and weighs a mere 9.88 ounces for greater portability. The lens lightweight design coupled with In-Body Image Stabilization available in the flagship E-3, E-510 and E-520 makes capturing amazing, blur-free images possible even without a tripod. Olympus now offers two super-wide-angle zoom lenses (9-18mm affordable consumer lens and 7-14mm splash-proof lens for the pro photographer) that feature both a focal distance equivalent to less than 20mm on a 35mm camera and image stabilization. Pairing this lens or any of the other Zuiko digital lenses with the new E-520, and its in-body image stabilization, provides a combination ideal for lower light shots like a fountain at night. This combination offers image stabilization for a super wide-angle zoom not found in camera systems with in-lens stabilization.
